Ars Longa, Vita Brevis

Despite what conventional wisdom might have to say, Brando’s humility, sensitivity and self-deprecating nature gave him a profound insight into the human condition and an unparalleled ability to portray it on the silver screen. Paul Newman looked up to Brando just as Clapton was mesmerized by Hendrix. And let’s be clear, he wasn’t just the prime practitioner of method acting. Brando was an extremely talented, passionate, yet troubled thespian who set the standard for all those who followed him. If the latest documentary on his life “Listen to Me Marlon” really lives up to the reviews, it will certainly be worth watching. I just wish that Roger Ebert were still alive to render his opinion. Alas, ars longa, vita brevis.
