I Choose to Believe

We are more than the sum total of our senses. The abyssal depth of the human soul cannot be explored and understood solely through the windows of sensory perception. To argue otherwise is to elevate hedonism as a universal religion and to denigrate human beings as dismal creatures. This would be a world ruled by greed and populated by automata seeking only to maximize their personal utility. This may be the world of economists, not my own. I choose to believe that life is a pursuit of meaning. I choose to believe that the poetry of life has eternal meaning. I choose to believe that this meaning was ascribed by God.
