The most convincing lies are the lies we tell ourselves. They are tailored to dress our weaknesses. They are tailored to conceal ourselves. I once loved a woman only by first lying to myself. I refused to see her faults, despite knowing her so well. My blindness was my weakness, my refusal to confront myself. You can never be true to another, unless you are first true to yourself.
